Working With The Elements For Ascension

The Elements are the building blocks of our reality.  Everything that we see and perceive around us are made from the elements.  Working with the elements is essential for the ascension of our soul.  These elements include Earth, Air, Water and Fire.

A fifth element that many overlook is Spirit or what some call Aether or Astral Light.  Equilibrium is experienced when these elements are balanced but can cause destruction when they are out of balance.

We can see the effects in our everyday reality.  When there is more water than earth floods and corrosion happens.  Air can be destructive in the form of tornadoes and hurricanes or can bring a breath of fresh air through light breezes.  Those are just some basic examples that we can see.

The Elements Are in Our Astral DNA

The elements are within us as well.  Not only are they a part of our physical makeup but of our spiritual makeup as well.  We can get an idea of our elemental constitution by examining our birth chart.  That is your Astral DNA.  We are made of stardust.

Elements In Our Chart Highlight Challenges & Strengths

Imbalances and strengths of the elements can be seen based on where the planets are aligned in our chart.  When we have more planets in an elemental sign than another, it gives us a clue of our strengths and challenges.  We can work with the elements to strengthen a particular element within us.

It is thought that water is the polar opposite of fire and air is opposite to the Earth.  For example, we walk on Earth but also through Air.  Another example is that we can extinguish fire with water.

Example of Balancing Challenges & Strengths

If we have a lot of planets in fire signs on our birth chart, we may be challenged in areas that water represents.  It can also indicate that we can be too fiery at times.  There needs to be a balance.

Spiritually speaking, water is representative of our emotions while fire is representative of our courage, desires and passions.  Sometimes too much desire or passion can be a bad thing.  People that have too much fire may struggle with being violent or aggressive.  We need to balance this passion with other emotions in order to find equilibrium.

To balance out too much fire, you could volunteer at a local non-profit to build up more empathy towards others.  You could spend more time journaling and shadow working in order to get in touch with your emotions and things that may be repressed in your subconscious.  More examples of simple things you could do to build up more water energy including going to the ocean to have a nice swim.  You could also stand out in the rain allowing yourself to be soaked while embracing the cleansing energy of water.

Elements Help Us to Experience Balance & Stability

The imbalances found in our birth chart also give us clues on how we can experience balance and stability that is necessary for ascension.  For example, if you have a lot of air in your chart, this could represent that you are in your head a lot even though you are very intellectual.  You could be very creative but struggle with material responsibilities of this world.

So in order to bring balance in your life, it is helpful to incorporate more Earth elements in your life.  You could focus on maintaining a healthy green based diet.  Another thing you could do is spend more time in nature.  Get your feet into the ground and embrace the energy.

One popular meditation that you could do is stand barefoot on the ground and visualize the grounding energy of the Earth rising up through your feet.  You could also visualize the scattered energy within you flowing down into the Earth and spreading out like roots.

Working With The Elements in Meditations & Rituals

Working with the elements should be done on a daily basis in order to keep us in equilibrium.  Connecting with the elements also helps us to connect with the spiritual plane because they all have spiritual energies.

As the old saying goes “As above, so below.”  The elements are essentially physical representations of an aspect of the spiritual plane.  This is why the fifth element of Spirit is important to remember.  We must align Spirit with the other four elements in order to experience true equilibrium.

I recommend having at least one correspondence of each element in our sacred space when we practice our daily rituals.  Rituals are the bridge between the physical plane and the spiritual plane.

I keep the following in my sacred space:

  • Crystals to represent the Earth element.
  • Candles to represent the Fire element.
  • A cup of water to represent the Water element.
  • Burning incense to represent the Air element.
  • Spiritual images and symbols to represent the Spirit element.

This is a really basic setup, but you can do a lot more than that.  By using multiple correspondences you build up the energies of the element that they represent.  The more of that energy is built up, the easier that you can resonate and invoke them.

Conclusion

Working with the elements helps us to experience equilibrium and stability.  Hopefully this post has helped you to understand the importance of working with the elements and learned how you can implement some of these simple practices in your daily life.
